Friendship Bangladesh Story Part 1

This is the story of the “gora nabik” (the “White Sailor”) Yves Marre, and his and Runa Khan Marre’s work on the preservation of traditional boats of Bangladesh.  The video clip describes why Yves started his work in the preservation of traditional boats of Bangladesh, and also the Lifebuoy Friendship Hospital.   The clips contains interviews of both Yves Marre and Runa Khan Marre as well, explaining their collaborative work and plans.

This clip is about Yves Marr’s work in Bangladesh, his relentless efforts to preserve the knowledge of boat-building in Bangladesh which is a rich, old tradition but on the verge of extinction due to the advent of new technology in the local boat-building industry. The video shows the living museum, and the research and documentation center in Savar, Dhaka; work on both of which is underway.
