Friendship launched the first catamaran river ambulance in Bangladesh to serve the population on the riverbanks and chars of the Jamuna, taking them to the Lifebuoy Friendship Hospital and the Emirates Floating Hospital in medical emergencies and natural disasters. The Friendship community teams have mobile phones to quickly communicate in emergencies.
The ambulance has the capacity to carry two patients accompanied by their families and two paramedics. It is also able to ferry up to 15 medical staff members at a time to any site in case of major accidents or natural disasters. The boat was envisioned and especially designed to match the specific needs of Bangladesh by the world famous naval architect Marc Van Peteghem.
