Partnership between GDF SUEZ Foundation, EAF & Friendship

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between GDF SUEZ Foundation, Energy Assistance France (EAF) - association of GDF SUEZ volunteers, and Friendship on December 14, 2011 in Paris. The aim of the MoU is to explore technical solutions for electrification of remote villages located in islets and the bank of the Brahmaputra River in northern Bangladesh. This is a pilot project with each of the parties playing specific role. GDF SUEZ is the primary sponsor, Energy Assistance France is the technical advisor and administrator of the subsidy granted to Friendship, who is the designer-operator of the pilot schemes and implementer.
At the MoU signing ceremony Friendship was represented by its Executive Director Runa Khan, while GDF SUEZ Foundation was represented by Patrick Marcel, General Secretary, and, Energy Assistance France by its President Eric Bassac. Among other participants Patrick Losch of Friendship Luxembourg and Laure Vinçotte, of the GDF SUEZ subsidiary Rassembleur d’Energies were present. Françoise Guichard, in-charge of the Sustainable Development Department, GDF SUEZ joined the meeting at the end.
